When I started following my passion in writing. I wondered if I was aiming for the correct profession, which eventually turned out to be the one that I was seeking for. Throughout my time at TRU, I have learnt many aspects of myself while working towards my goals. It taught me the core values of ILO that is Connection (teamwork), Exploration (critical thinking), Local-to-Global (connecting with people and the land and respecting diverse environments) and Engagement (social responsibility). With the hope of inculcating those values, I have motivated myself to create my own path that has made a positive impact on myself.
The career I choose for myself has reflected a part of me which highlights in my portfolio the skills of analyzing trends, engaging with the audience with interesting writing, researching for a story to be told or creating visuals that sets a lasting impressions on the viewers. These skills have indulged me into smaller parts of learning, failing and growing that further helped me to know what the world has to offer and to grasp every opportunity possible towards my success.
Furthermore, I have always thought success is something that you earn with your hard work; which I am never afraid to do. Sitting in a corner thinking about my life won’t take me anywhere but working towards it and proving myself what I am capable of, would make a difference. This skill of mine directly aligns with the values of exploration which challenged my weaknesses to grow into my strength.
In the end, the skills that I possess today, have developed a sense of proud feeling and understanding of how I have evolved into a better version of myself. Overcoming the older version to becoming a goal oriented person, I have worked it out. For it may be a presentation, assignment, interview or exams, I made it crucial for myself to give my best and to learn from my failures, as an individual or within a team. That’s how these values motivates me to inculcate new skills and opportunities which takes me a step closer to my success.
